1. Our modus operandi
Our principle :
To study and adapt to the real needs of client’s business.
To achieve this EC2i has its own working methodology :
1.1. The client must supply :
The proposed production programme, with as much details, as possible.
Full information about the production site.
This information enables us to conduct a preliminary study.
1.2. This preliminary study enables us to draw up :
Initial concepts with plans, taking into account future extensions.
Investment cost for each solution.
A chart setting out the technological / economic advantages and disadvantages of proposed possibilities.
This is then followed by a pilot study
2. The pilot study
2.1. Civil engineering
From the outlines drawn up in the preliminary study, we will establish the objective coasts for the construction part of the project, conforming to European union.
They include :
• Evacuation work including power and water supplies, and evacuation
• Construction – Re-enforced concreteRoof support structure, roof covering, barding, rain water
• Isotherm panelling
• Interior and exterior carpentry
• Evacuation systems
• Flooring
• Plumbing and sanitary installation
• Plastering – painting
• Communication systems.
2.2. Process
2.2.1. Conditions, which define :
The product(s) to be made
Technical production norms, taking into account current technologies
Quantity standards
Quality standards
2.2.2. General equipment
Total calculation of requirements in terms of water, electricity, air, energy, refrigeration, based on the production systems and taking into account energy costs.
Estimates programme, by sector :
• Low voltage electricity
• High voltage electricity and lighting
• Pipes for water, chilled water, hot water, steam, and compressed air
• Insulation
• Automatism
• Equipment
• Production materials for energy, refrigeration, compressed air,……..
2.2.3. Specialised equipment
Study and definition of specific materials, according to the production process :
• Plan of the production lines,
• Schema of the sitting of the production machinery in the factories,
• Operating energy costs
• Production yields (at standard and reduced rates)
Our conception is based on the belief that the equipment must be adapted to the process, not vice-versa.
3. Project
3.1. The building
At this stage, we will establish the definitive version in terms of land, calculation notes, and the programme of works to be carried out in order to determine :
• Plans and calculations for the foundations
• Plans and calculations for re-enforced concrete
• Plans and calculations for roof support structure
• Calculations for insulation
• Detailed plan of work to be done.
3.2. Process
• Quantification of industrial water needed
• Quantification of water for sanitation
• Quantification of compressed air required
• Quantification of energy requirements, voltages, size of cables required
• Plans of electricity system
• Lighting, schema of the installation, distribution centres
• Detailed list of all the materials required to create the production line, including machinery and equipment.
• Plans illustrating how the piping systems will be linked up including additional elements such as vanes, one way valves, etc….
• Details of proposed materials to be used will be given in the schedule of conditions.
3.3. Technical / economic study
• This study aims to optimise the client’s investment in terms of the selection of possible methods/technologies under consideration.
• For each technical solution which we present, we will study :
• MATERIALS :
• Yield fluctuations, how they compare with the specified objectives
Price differential for materials
• Conditions linked to the sourcing of raw materials, their quality and costs, in order to arrive at optimum quality/ price.
• LABOUR :
• Variations in the cost of labour, with reference to standard coasts.
• INVESTMENT and MAINTENANCE :
• The best initial investment, judged against maintenance costs.
3.4. Quality procedures :
Covering :
• Quality assurance : This document brings together to all the information set out in the schedule of conditions, illustrating the fact that all the necessary steps to assure quality have been taken into account.
• Quality assurance system : comprising all the steps necessary to achieve the stated objectives.
• Quality management : using the above information, it offers :
• Monitoring of product conformity via systematic checking
• Calculation of cost of faulty rejects, at the end of production line.
• Establishment of a plan of hygiene monitoring (in all its forms) during the production process.
4. Project Management
4.1. Contracts and specifications
EC2i will act in its capacity as project manager.
4.2. Planning
EC2i will establish the overall works schedule, and the financial planning in conjunction with the project owner.
4.3. Direction of work
EC2i will designate a project engineer who will be the key contact with the project owner.
He will carry out following activities :
• Site meetings, to obtain information from the client.
• Analysis of the programme, production diagrams, surface area and volume studies.
• At a stage, a second phase of meeting with the client is scheduled, to solicit any additional information required.
• Study of different solutions, evaluation and comparison, as stated above.
• Presentation meeting: discussion and synthesis of the proposed solutions.
• Definition of agreed solution.
• Monitoring of study during the project and project phases.
• General technical overseeing during the construction, testing and commissioning phases.
This engineer will be responsible for the following phases :
• Project definition/specifications,
• Planning
• Construction
• Testing
• Commissioning
• Financial management/ accounting.
4.4. Assistance- testing- commissioning- financial- management
EC2i will help the project owner in the testing and commissioning of the installation, in conformity with the schedule of conditions set out during the pre-project stage.
